Behind the scenes blogging tips are really not my forte, trust me. I can’t even tell you how much I’ve struggled to learn Word Press (note to self: read the manual next time), but today, I just had to share my excitement over my now working navigation links for my website’s menu!
For those of you that are struggling with the same, I feel a responsibility to pass on my newly acquired knowledge and to also send a little kudos in the direction of Sonya Lynn Designs. While my problem was not directly fixed by her directions, this article led me to the source of the problem, and I was able to find my way forward from here! Seriously, guys…we’re talking weeks I’ve been trying to leap over this maddening hurdle!!
If you find that you are still struggling with your links after trying Sonya’s solution out, you might want to take a look at mine below…Whichever path you choose, may you find your solution at the end too!
In your Dashboard, scroll down the menu on the left-hand side to “Settings” and then “Permalinks”.
From here, you’ll be taken to a screen that lists several different permalink options. Now, for this, I did follow Sonya’s advice under the “Common Settings” section, but this did not fix my website’s problem. Try her advice first. That might be all you need to do! So, after I tried the first solution with no results, I focused my attention to the next section under “Optional”.
Now, I tried a few different things, but in the end, all I had to do was clear out whatever was in the “Category base” section and literally just type the word “category”. Seriously. After weeks of Google searches and article after article read, that’s all it came down to! How nuts is that?!
Now, mind you, this will only work if you have been adding categories to your posts all along! If you haven’t, you might want to go back and do that. If you have, and neither of the solutions I’ve mentioned have helped you, leave me a note in the comments, and I will try my best to direct you. Chances are, after my weeks of research on this particular topic, I just might be able to lead you in the direction you need to go!
